Church of San Lesmes: Distant, raking view of facade and east portal
Architecture Library, Hesburgh Libraries
The Church of San Lesmes holds the resting place of the patron saint of the city. The current building was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. The late Gothic façade was a work of Simón and Francisco de Colonia (architects and sculptors). The main altarpiece is a work of baroque style from the 18th century. At the foot of the chancel lies the sepulcher of San Lesmes (named Adelelme in French, a Benedictine abbot who died in 1097).
