Saint-Jacques Chapel [reconstructed fragments]: Facade of the chapel, reconstructed in the Jardin de l'Hôtel Groslot
Architecture Library, Hesburgh Libraries
In 1883, elements from the Saint-Jacques Chapel, the center for pilgrims from the brotherhood of the same name since the 14th century, were dismantled and installed in the Jardin de l'Hôtel Groslot. These remnants of 15th century (rebuilt ca. 1450 after the Hundred Years War) architecture were transported from the Châtelet neighborhood and used here to represent ruins in order to give a Romantic dimension to the gardens.
