Châteaudun is located 45 km northwest of Orléans and is noted for the Château de Châteaudun, but also for some 15th and 16th century houses, half-timbered all or in part. This large house has visible half-timbering in the rear, but the facade is clad in stone and has Renaissance detailing like the "tourelle", (an oriel window), with two street-level arched windows below, facing the two streets at the corner. The side is stuccoed with rusticated stone detailing. Other historic houses in the town have names; this one is only known by its position on the corner of Rue de la Cuirasserie and Rue des Huileries.
